A Steinway & Sons Hamburg Model O grand piano from 1913 in a rosewood case
This piano originally had a Welte pianola mechanism for self playing fitted, but it has since been removed. The case is about 30cm longer than a normal Model O as a result, but there are no acoustic differences aside from this. The only slight difference is the keysticks on these pianos are longer than a normal Model O, but this is actually not a bad thing - the keysticks are more similar in length to those on a concert grand piano/ Steinway Model D, so you get greater control and expression as a result
This piano was refurbished in the last few decades including new strings and tuning pins, and remains in good solid condition. The soundboard has no splits or repairs showing this piano has been well cared for
The tone is rich and even throughout all registers, and the action is fast and smooth. The keytops are in perfect condition and still the original material, not plastic replacements. We have reshaped the hammers for optimum tone. The tuning is very stable, with tight tuning pins throughout
Casework has some slight sun fading which is typical of most antique rosewood pianos, but still very attractive
Overall, a really nice piano for a fraction of the price of a "normal" model O - we sell normal length Model Os for £15,000 - 30,000 depending on condition so this really is a bargain. We have priced this piano low for quick sale
