We are pleased to offer this brand new Phoenix 170 small grand piano in a black high gloss case as an authorised retailer of new Phoenix pianos
This is one of the most innovative and revolutionary pianos on the market. Designed by visionary entrepreneur and inventor Richard Dain, the Phoenix 170 was produced in collaboration with Steingraeber & Soehne of Bayreuth Germany, one of the finest piano manufacturers in the world
The iron frame and wooden case structure were produced by Steingraeber using the design from their A-170 model, already one of the finest small pianos money can buy. This was then fitted with a bespoke carbon fibre soundboard, WNG composite action, 3d printed D3D shanks, carbon fibre bridge cap + bridge agraffes in bass, and set up in the UK by one of the finest concert technicians in the country
This piano has an extremely wide tail, resulting in one of the largest soundboards for a piano of its size. This is one of several factors which give it the tone of a much larger piano - despite being only 170cm in length, there are no tonal compromises at all
The action is exceptionally smooth and consistent, which is one of the advantages of a composite action. Unlike traditional wooden and felt actions, this feeling of smoothness and newness will not wear out over time as the composite materials have exceptional wear resistance. After playing this piano for a while, every other piano action feels inferior
Almost every aspect of this piano is innovative and unique, there are almost too many innovations to list but some of the most important design features include:
Carbon fibre soundboard & bridge caps. Unlike wood, the carbon fibre soundboard and bridge caps will never crack or degrade
No downbearing. Conventional soundboard design relies on the curve of the soundboard, which gradually collapses over time and loses power. Being almost completely flat, this soundboard will never lose its tonal qualities as it is not reliant on downbearing. Also, the enormous downward pressure of traditional soundboard and bridge design has the effect of dampening the vibrations. By having no downbearing, the soundboard is free to vibrate, producing a richer and more resonant tone
Patented bridge agraffe system. The bridge agraffes hold the string from above and below, providing the most efficient possible method of transferring vibrations from the string to the soundboard
D3D 3d printed hammer shanks and flanges. These use a metal bearing instead of traditional felt pivots, combined with a unique self lubricating composite material. The composite material has incredible wear resistance, and is resistant to moisture, high humidity and extremes of temperature unlike traditional piano actions
Unique bass string metallurgy for superior tone - the bass on this piano sounds like a significantly larger grand piano
This piano is supplied with a new warranty direct with the original manufacturer
Please come and play this piano and see what the future sounds and feels like!
