An extremely rare 1865 Steinway & Sons full size concert grand piano in a dark wood case
This piano was fully restored in the relatively recent past, including replacement of the keyboard, and replacement of the entire action at enormous cost
Internally the piano is in solid condition with no structural issues, and no cracks, shims or repairs visible on the soundboard - quite remarkable for a piano approaching 160 years old
The casework was modernised at some point, with newer style spade legs to replace the original ornate legs. It remains in reasonable condition with some wear and repairs in line with age
The tuning is very stable, with no visible issues on the exposed wrestplank and tight tuning pins
Being so old, the tone of this piano is not the same as a modern Steinway Model D, so if you are looking for a piano to play Rachmaninoff Etudes on then this isn't the one for you. But if you are looking for a historic piano to play music of the period on, then this is an extraordinary and fully playable example of early Steinway concert grand development
