A rare Bechstein upright piano in a wood veneer case, 106cm tall
This piano dates from 1972 and has had one owner since its original purchase from Harrods
Post war Bechstein pianos are very rare, only being made in fairly small numbers each year. Unlike most German manufacturers, the Bechstein factory has always remained independently owned without any compromise in quality, so there are no 'bad periods' like one finds with Bluthner and many other German brands
This is an incredible instrument for its size and has only had light amateur use since new. The top quality Renner action is incredibly smooth and well balanced, without doubt one of the best small upright pianos we have ever played. The hammers only have extremely light signs of use, which we have lightly refurbished and regulated to get back to perfect condition
The strings are in perfect condition, as are the soundboard and other acoustic elements. The tuning is extremely stable, with tight tuning pins throughout
Casework in very good condition overall with just a few small signs of use in line with age
One of the very best pianos available at this size. Perfect for a serious pianist or recording studio who need an incredible sound and action but are limited on space
