A Hamburg Steinway & Sons Model D 274 concert grand piano in a satin ebonised case
This piano was built in 1977, and Steinway records confirm that it was first owned by the BBC for use at Maida Vale Studios, where it was undoubtedly played and recorded on by many famous artists. In 1993 it was renovated by Jeffrey Shackell and sold to its second owner, a private individual (not a professional pianist), and since then it has been played relatively little
The piano is in very good condition for its age, with no structural issues, and a rich even tone throughout all registers
We have replaced the hammers, shanks and rollers (all genuine Steinway parts) for improved dynamic range and control
With the price of a new Model D being over £200,000, these 1970s Model Ds are excellent value for money, and potentially an appreciating investment
An excellent instrument for a professional pianist or aspiring virtuoso
Casework currently being renovated, more pictures to follow
2 year warranty
