A Steinway Model D concert grand from 1887

This is one of the very first real Model D grand pianos (not the preceeding Centennial design). The design of this piano set the benchmark for concert grand piano performance, and is still essentially the same design being produced today with minor improvements over time

Piano has just been fully restored which included soundboard restoration, new wrestplank, new bridge caps, full restringing, french polishing to black high shine (with some patina in the surface underneath from age), damper felts replaced, damper mechanism overhauled, keyboard restoration and key bushings replaced.

The action (hammers, shanks, rollers, repetition levers) was replaced in 2015 prior to our ownership with genuine Steinway parts, and is in near new condition having been only lightly played since then. We have regulated and voiced this to a high standard, with the final setup and voicing being done by one of the best concert technicians in the country

Keytops are original and are currently being polished and whitened (pictures show keytops before this work)
